Orthodontics

Orthodontics is when the teeth are straightened or moved in order to improve the appearance of your smile by correcting the alignment of your teeth and the way you bite together. An incorrect bite can lead to long term dental problems and even jaw and head pain. By straightening the teeth, you also help to prevent tooth decay and gum diseases as straighter teeth are easier to clean.

Teeth move when light, sustained forces are applied by braces, plates or clear aligners.

Often there are option to do some aesthetics recontouring of teeth to improve their shapes, and bleaching can be an option for most patients.

Retention is essential and life-long as your teeth want to move back. Either  fixed wires or removable plastic retainers, or a combination of both are needed to keep you teeth nice and straight and maintain the smile your dentist and you have worked hard to achieve.
